Program Summary
EXPECTATIONS- Students are expected to give their best effort at all times and have fun, respect themselves, others, facilities, and equipment; develop specific activity skills, leadership skills and responsibility; cooperate with others; and expand their knowledge in physical education and fitness.
PARTICIPATION/ ATTENDANCE- Students are expected to consistently participate in Physical Education. It is designed to be a “hands on” course, therefore the majority of learning occurs during participation in class activities. If you are unable to participate for any reason I require a note from a parent/ guardian. If you miss a class it is your responsibility to check in with Mr. Richardson to see what you missed.
MEDICAL INFORMATION- Your personal medical information has been submitted on your school registration form. If there is a change or an issue specific to your participation in PE class I should be notified.
CLOTHES- To maintain personal hygiene and safety, all students are expected to change for PE class. Students are to wear: clean sneakers, shorts or athletic pants, and t-shirts.
TECHNOLOGY- The course has been developed with a variety of technology in mind. Cellphones are not allowed during class time and should be left in a locker or in the PE office for safekeeping. Occasionally we will be using iPads, however they will not be used everyday. Mr. Richardson will notify students when they need to bring their iPad to class. Students are responsible for the security and safety of their iPad. I strongly recommend the use of a case to protect the iPad. Students are welcome to store any devices in Mr. Richardson’s office during class time.
DISCIPLINE- Students actions will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Typically students can expect: (1) verbal warning (2) hallway conference (3) recess/ lunch conference (4) call home (5) office referral.
PARENT- TEACHER COMMUNICATION- Parents are encouraged to contact Mr. Richardson with any concerns or questions. Email: [email protected]. Phone 541-8260. Parents are also encouraged to keep up to date with grades and attendance through the Power School Parent- Student portal. This will be updated every two weeks.
